What you will do
- Assisting manager in planning and designing of gift shop layout to maximize return on investment and achieve department goals
- Assisting manager with researching new products and quickly responding to any new trends
- Assisting manager in creating policies and procedures
- Assisting manager in managing and maintaining staffing levels against pre-approved budget
- Hiring and training staff, scheduling, coaching, motivating and disciplining staff as required
- Working with current P.O.S system to control all inventory
- Documenting any damaged product when receiving merchandise and calling supplier to issue credits
- Managing any price increase of merchandise
- Assisting manager in attending local and out of province buying shows to look for new and unique merchandise for the Gift Shop
- Providing all employees with regular feedback on performance, mid-season evaluations and year-end evaluations
- Overseeing the inventory of all merchandise, regular spot check of inventory comparing POS count to actual count of stock on hand, to look for shortages
- Recording all damages of merchandise and shortages (theft) that occur in the gift shop when in operation
- Promoting, training, and enforcing all health and safety policy within the Gift Shop and throughout the park
- Documenting all training and ensure that all staff have reviewed and signed their handbook
- Handling challenging customer service situations
- Various other office duties as assigned
Who you are
You are an effective communicator with a passion for offering the best customer service available. You have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills You can deal with stressful situations and resolve problems independently.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- Graduation from high school or GED
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a customer service environment
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English
Nice to have
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Experience hiring, scheduling, training, coaching and motivating staff
- Experience in cash handling and inventory control
- Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification
Wage
Pay Band 1 - $1,530.00 to $2,156.00 bi-weekly
