THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW...
The following is general information and safety tips to help you
plan your visit:
In Advance
-
Your entrance fee is valid for two consecutive days, including
the day of purchase, so consult the tide tables and plan to visit
the Hopewell Rocks both at low tide and high tide so you can fully
appreciate the highest tides in the world.
-
We recommend comfortable, sturdy footwear such as sneakers or
hiking boots.
-
Dress in layers, as the weather is unpredictable.
-
Carry bottles of water.
While in the Park
-
Avoid posted and cabled off areas. While every effort is taken
to ensure that unstable areas are cabled off, rock falls
occasionally happen. Visitors should be mindful of their own
safety.
-
Beware of falling rocks. Small sections of rock occasionally
work loose; this is the natural process of erosion. Visitors
should be aware of this when proceeding through tunnels or under
overhangs.
-
Although interpretive staff members clear the
beach areas as the
tide comes in, visitors must be wary of rising water levels.
-
Move carefully while on the beach as mud and seaweed-covered
rocks are slippery.
-
To reduce human impact on the vegetation, please stay on the
walking trails. § Do not climb on rock faces as the sandstone is
fragile.
-
The mud flats are part of an important ecological system.
Walking or sliding in the mud is strictly prohibited.
-
Walking trails are unlit during the evening hours.
-
Do not climb over the fences - they are provided for your
safety.
-
Please use care to extinguish cigarettes and matches - forest
areas can be very dry in summer.

information for families and our pet
policy.
Visiting outside normal operating hours
Tide times change each day and occasionally, the low tides will
fall near to - or outside - our hours of operation.
Should you wish to visit the site after gates are locked visitors
may park their vehicles outside the gates, ensuring they do not block
any roadways or entrances, and then walk in.
Visitors accessing the area outside of park hours are responsible
for their own safety and should take great care not to be trapped by
the tides.
