Accessibility
The Hopewell Rocks park has an upper site and a lower site,
connected by graveled paths and a shuttle service. (see
park map)
The Upper Site
The main parking area and entrance kiosk for the Hopewell Rocks
park are situated on the upper level of a bluff to provide our visitors with access to a spectacular
vista of the Bay of Fundy before they walk via wide graveled
pathways to various viewing decks, our lower site and the beach area.
The Interpretive Centre, Tidal Treasures gift shop and
High Tide Café
are also situated on the upper site.
The park's Interpretive Centre,
High
Tide Café, Tidal Treasures gift shop
and washroom facilities are wheelchair accessible and our
walking trails are suitable for wheelchair navigation. We also offer complimentary
passes for the shuttle service to persons with a disability and
their companion.
The Lower Site
The lower site is closer to the beach and flowerpot formations. It
has a small off-loading and parking area, the Low Tide Café,
washrooms and stairway access to the beach. The main public parking
area is at the upper site, but for convenience, those with physical
disabilities may make arrangements at the entrance kiosk to park their
vehicle at our lower site.
While every effort has been made to make the Hopewell Rocks
accessible to visitors with physical challenges (i.e. with
wheelchairs, walkers or motorized personal transportation vehicles),
the ocean floor is not wheelchair accessible or recommended for
visitors with physical challenges. Access to the beach area is via
stairway, the beach surface is rocky and uneven in some areas, soft
and muddy in others. Some pathways are narrow and difficult to
manoeuvre.
While, the beach area is unsuitable for some, all the viewing
decks are wheelchair accessible and provide wonderful views of
the beach, formations, bay and coastline.
Should you need special arrangements, please speak with park staff
and they will assist you. You may also call the park in advance
(1-800-734-3429) if you have any concerns.
